Electric milk transport

Innovation on the road, pride in the team

19 September 2025

What does the future of (Milk) transport look like? Lower emissions, more comfort, and smart planning play an important role. With the first fully electric Mobile Milk Collection truck, which has been running daily from Gerkesklooster since this summer, we are taking a big step in that direction.

Quieter, smoother, and surprisingly powerful

For driver Cornell, switching over took some getting used to:

“Plugging in and recharging was new at first. But the driving itself was 200% better than I expected. The e-truck accelerates much more smoothly and feels stable on the road. It’s also quieter around you – I really see that as an improvement.”

His colleague Edwin initially had his doubts. “I was skeptical. You know diesel, electric felt unfamiliar. But I was positively surprised: it drives like a regular truck, just quieter. Farmers notice that right away: ‘We didn’t even hear you coming!’ they often say with a laugh.”

Smart planning and conscious driving

Electric driving requires a different way of planning and working. Planner Melle explains:

“We make sure drivers can recharge during their breaks, often back in Gerkesklooster. This way we can use the e-truck for two full shifts a day, meaning it’s practically in operation nonstop. In summer this works fine; in winter we’re curious how it will develop. For us, it’s not difficult to plan – it just comes with the job.”

The drivers also recognize this awareness. Edwin: “With diesel you always know you can go far. Now you have to think ahead a bit more and recharge for half an hour. But you get used to it quickly, and it also gives peace of mind – you have time to grab a sandwich.”

Driving forward, with tomorrow in mind

We are the first to collect milk 24/7 using electric trucks. For us, sustainability isn’t a plan for the future, but daily practice.

Cornell emphasizes: “This is more efficient and more sustainable. As technology advances, it will only get better.” And Edwin sees the effect outside the cab as well: “Farmers ask questions, they want to know how it works. You notice that the conversation about sustainability is everywhere.”

On the road together

With the electric RMO, we show that innovation and craftsmanship go hand in hand. It requires adjustments in planning and work, but it also brings new insights, calm, and awareness. And this is only the beginning.

Step by step, together we are working towards a cleaner future for dairy transport – quiet, reliable, and sustainable.
