Sustainability

On the way to a sustainable future

At Melkweg|Fritom, sustainability is at the center of everything we do. We are determined to play a leading role in the transition to a more environmentally friendly future within the logistics sector. Through innovative solutions and responsible choices, we reduce our ecological footprint and contribute to a circular economy. Whether it's using efficient transport methods, obtaining prestigious sustainability certifications, or implementing energy-saving measures, Melkweg|Fritom continues to constantly strive for sustainable operations.

Fueled to sustain

The Fritom Group is committed to sustainability and their motto "Fueled to Sustain" reflects this commitment. Through the use of intermodal transports, Melkweg|Fritom reduces road miles and increases the use of railroads, barges and shortsea connections. This allows us to reduce CO2 emissions. Furthermore, we use clean EURO6 engines, which is a logical step within our sustainability philosophy. In addition, we are determined to further reduce our carbon footprint. One of our key initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions is the use of HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel. This fuel contributes to significant reductions in emissions. We are also committed to making our fleet more sustainable by investing in electrification. By applying these strategies, we aim to work with our partners and customers to reduce our footprint and have a positive impact on the environment

Sustainable office

Our energy-neutral office building with garage and car wash uses sustainable materials as much as possible. Solar panels adorn the roof and the rainwater we collect is used for cleaning equipment and flushing the toilets. Even the bicycle shed is “green”: it is made from a recycled tank container.
