We believe it is important that our colleagues can continue to work in good health and enjoy what they do. That is why, this year, all employees had the opportunity to take part in a Preventive Medical Examination (PME). Fully confidential and paid for by Melkweg|Fritom, the examination gave them the opportunity to gain insight into their health and vitality. This gives everyone the opportunity to take a more conscious approach to their health and remain fit and able to work in the long term.
Exercise is an important part of this. Whether working in the office or behind the wheel, our jobs are not exactly the most active. That is why we believe it is important to encourage our colleagues to stay active in their free time as well. Through our sports programme, colleagues can take part in sports at a discounted rate. It is an accessible way to stay active and maintain a healthy balance alongside a busy working day.
Treating our customers in a personal and familiar way starts with treating each other the same way. Looking out for one another and staying involved are therefore important parts of our company culture. Our employees’ association organises a group outing twice a year. We also celebrate special moments together, such as work anniversaries and retirements. And when times are more difficult, we are there for each other too.
These moments create a sense of connection. They help us get to know each other better, have fun together and support one another when needed. In this way, we are not only creating an enjoyable working environment, but above all, building a close-knit team.
Our responsibility, of course, does not stop with our own colleagues. We also want to stay involved in the world around us. Through our sponsorship committee, we support initiatives in the areas of sport, culture, nature, events and charitable causes.
Among other things, we support various sports and Frisian kaatsen associations, the ice hockey club in Leeuwarden and local cultural initiatives. We also contribute to the Agrarisch Natuurfonds Fryslân and several local birdwatching groups around Bolsward. In doing so, we help preserve nature and support activities that bring people in our region together.
Sometimes, we can also make a practical contribution. At regional events, for example, we use our own resources to supply drinking water. This allows us to think along with organisers and contribute in a practical way to initiatives in our local community.
For us, CSR is therefore not a standalone programme. It is part of who we are: a family-owned company where people feel valued, where there is room for enjoyment at work, and where we remain committed to the people and community of which we are part.
